Carvan of PRPP begins from village Meerpur-Day 5
Meetinder singh, a young student of B.Tech when learnt about PRPP campaign, he took the initiative of organizing the first meeting of village surveys from his village Meerpur. Mr.Prabh Simran Gill from Canada on a short visit to his relatives, took the responsibility to draw the minutes of meeting.
Village elders believed that mode of governance institutions was still not democratic and behaviour of officials was nothing less than king emperors whose greed for easy money was taking its toll on public services and justice. Every one expressed the fear of police and sardar Amar singh said that on this platform now they will be able to speak without any fear.
Mr.Amar Singh, Ex-Sarpanch while addressing the gathering of villagers, highlighted the cases of recent past where innocents had been convicted due to indifferent attitude with incompetency and lack of courage of convictions among officials. He appreciated the endeavour and expressed to accompany the campaign at every level.
Mr.Pardeep Kumar, a young student said that we have completely ignored our traditions/conventions and rich heritage and are still guided by blind laws and rules made by Britishers to exploit and suppress our democratic aspirations.
He was of the opinion that we wrote down world's lengthiest constitution but our former colonial rulers still have unwritten constitution that is based on conventions. People in positions of power will never like to change this and continue this sham in the name of democracy.
All those who participated in the meeting expressed their solidarity with Police Reforms campaign banner and endorsed their signatures on it.
